Elements of a Control Room Solution

Control room elements - click to enlargeElectrosonic provides solution consultation for control room systems. The core design criteria for a videowall are discussed below:

Information Sources displayed in control rooms may originate from a variety of sources including:

  • Analog or Digital Video sources from surveillance and replay devices
  • Analog or Digital RGB information from computer devices
  • Networked information from desktop or application servers

Connecting these sources to the display system may require a variety of interfacing, cabling, switching and control solutions. Electrosonic’s products are capable of accepting information from all of these sources in a manner which preserves the original quality.

Image Processors provide a critical function to a videowall. They combine the visual information from different information sources for presentation in a variety of configurations on a display system. Important considerations when selecting image processors for your display system include:

  • Legacy Information Sources: What are your current information sources and how will you integrate them with the new environment solution?
  • Source Flexibility: How many sources and what type of sources are required for your system? How many will you need to display simultaneously? Will new sources need to be integrated into the system in the future?
  • Image Quality: What image quality do you require for video, RGB and network sources?
  • Presentation Intensity: Does the display need to present static content from information sources that rarely changes or does the solution require that users be able to quickly change the information and the manner in which it is presented?
  • System Performance: With what speed do you expect images to be displayed when they are created or repositioned on the display?

Electrosonic has designed and manufactures image processing products which combine operating flexibility, image quality, presentation intensity and performance that is unmatched in the industry.

Display Systems: Selection criteria for display systems can vary greatly depending upon the physical environment, lighting conditions, viewing positions and budget. Most frequently, digital projection cubes provide the most practical solution for command and control or simulation videowalls.

Electrosonic provides a wide range of display products for control rooms and our processing range has the flexibility to control images for pre-existing displays.

Control Interfaces: The presentation intensity requirements, network operating system, security policies and interaction with the user environment and business process can shape the requirements for the operator interface. Off the shelf Electrosonic control software fulfills many applications. Our control platforms incorporate connection interfaces that allow custom user interfaces to be created that can be specifically designed for a customer’s user profile, applications and business process.

Electrosonic CT Commander provides a complete, robust operating platform that allows control of sources and selection of screen layouts.

Other Room Elements: Electrosonic has relationships and access to products and solutions that fulfill additional control room environmental requirements such as furniture, consoles, lighting and control of other room elements. Electrosonic’s support of these elements can vary depending upon the resources you already have involved with your project.

Solution Consulting: Electrosonic has experts with broad experience that can provide support as you develop a control room solution. We will develop solutions specific to the requirements of your environment and budget. Electrosonic solutions extend far beyond the display and image processing solutions in the control room and simulation environments.
