Wimbledon Tennis MuseumElectrosonic wins InAVate Award

Electrosonic’s Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum installation has been honoured by the judges at the recent inaugural InAVate Awards, coming away with the ‘Most InAVative Commerical Project (Small-Medium)’ accolade. Electrosonic delivered an audio-visual system that runs fully automatically with minimum manual intervention, and is integrated in such a way that makes it a natural part of the design.

“Although it is our name on the award, I feel that the whole project team on the Wimbledon job has helped in achieving it”, says Kevin Murphy, Director, Electrosonic. “It is a great example of how a-v has been successfully integrated with other elements of the installation. We take great pride in every project that we are involved in, and it is particularly gratifying to be recognised by our industry peers for achieving the levels of excellence that we strive for.”

The EMEA InAVation Awards evening took place recently at the Hilton Amsterdam, the Netherlands, just before the ISE 2007 exhibition. Twenty companies were in the running to win one of five Project InAVation awards which were evaluated by an independent panel of judges taken from the AV integration, Architectural, Building and Facilities Management industries.

Wimbledon Tennis MuseumThe Wimbledon installation makes good use of touch screen displays, as stand-alone exhibits, and as a means of interpreting tennis memorabilia, equipment, and culture. Video is very well integrated into the displays, using a combination of projected images and large flat panel displays. The entire AV system at the Museum works automatically. Each morning it can be started from a single key protected “start” button, and similarly at the end of the day a single button-press closes down all the AV based exhibits.
