JinTang Bridge Show

Tianjin, China

The historic JinTang Bridge in Tianjin, China is now the scene of an outdoor water, fire, pyro, light, and sound spectacular show. The installation was managed by Electrosonic's Shanghai office.   Running nightly on special holiday evenings, the eight-minute show features fantastic pyro, fire, light, and water displays synchronized to an exciting soundtrack.

The bridge itself was the site of a historic unification treaty signing in 1949. Realizing the importance of the site, the city of Tianjin meticulously restored the structure. Realizing they needed a draw for their achievements they decided to provide a destination attraction for the residents of Tianjin to enjoy on a nightly basis. Working with project designers City Design Group of Atlanta, and Tianjin Huadeng Corporation, Electrosonic Systems Inc, in conjunction with event production company Bei-aAo of Beijing, designed, engineered, and installed the master show control and audio systems for the entire project.

There are two control rooms on each side of the river, linked by fiber laid under the river bottom, which transmits serial, SMPTE, and audio data. The control system provides direct interface with the many subsystems, including water, pyro, fire, and lighting. The entire show is locked to SMPTE time code, providing perfect, synchronized shows on a consistent basis. The audio system was installed to provide complete coverage on both sides of the river.

The show opened on National Day (October 1, 2005) to an audience of over 20,000 lining both sides of the river bank. The residence and the city government declared the new show a huge success!
