VECTOR™ 10U Card Cage

The VECTOR 10U Card Cage is a rugged 19" rack mounting case that provides an enclosure, power, internal connections and system management to VECTOR systems.

It allows 13 input or output cards to be added to the system. Typically, a one-cage system may drive 36 screens and allow up to 8 inputs displayed simultaneously. Eight cages may be combined for very large displays.

The electronics cards plug in through the front, accessible by opening the front door. These cards have two connectors that mate when pushed into the cage: one mates with the backplane, allowing image and control data to be transferred across VECTOR's 4Gbps bus; the other mates with the card's accompanying connector card, carrying external connectors for cabling at the rear of the unit.

This connector arrangement separates the more vulnerable parts (external connectors) from the expensive electronics, helping to lower cost of ownership. It also allows cages to be wired up for future expansion at initial installation, then cards extra purchased and inserted at a later date.

VECTOR cards support hot-plugging.

The cage has a front-panel LCD interface for simple set-up of the unit without the need for a PC connection. This allows wall size to be set and a source to be selected, as well as test pattern display for wall set-up.

The system manager card supplied with the cage fulfils a number of functions:

• communicates with the control PC running C-THROUGH™ or
  CT-COMMANDER™ control software via Ethernet
• generates test patterns for wall set-up
• contains a logo store for display in a window
• provides an RS232 connection for control of source or other equipment
• provides external and cage to cage synchronization
• stores and plays small shows for fixed installations requiring a looping presentation
• 8 contact closure show start inputs

VECTOR meets the safety and/or electromagnetic compatibility requirements of FCC, CE and UL at the relevant classification.

The power supply unit is autoranging from 90 to 264V AC at 50 - 60Hz. This is a modular unit that can be replaced in the field.
