VECTOR Brochure

A Vector-based wall controlled from an HTML touch panel via PRESENTER at LAX airportVECTOR™ Control Techniques

VECTOR may be controlled in a number of ways. The most suitable technique depends on the application, though sometimes several techniques are used simultaneously.

Configuration

Basic configuration of VECTOR may be achieved through the front-panel LCD and button interface. Parameters such as wall size, output resolution, test patterns, IP address, source selection may be chosen to get a basic display going without the need for a PC.

More advanced configuration requires use of C-THROUGH™ or PRESENTER™ software supplied with the VECTOR card cages running on a PC connected to VECTOR via Ethernet. For mixed resolution or walls made up of displays that are spaced apart (yet need to display a continuous image), C-THROUGH should be used. For displays that need to show a number of configured window layouts, use PRESENTER.

Operation

The VECTOR cage has 8 show start inputs. Simple shows can be downloaded to the frame, and activated by these contact closure inputs. This technique works well for fixed exhibits, such as kiosks, POS displays, visitor attractions and lobbies where members of the public are selecting between a few options. A dedicated external controller or PC is not required.

Internal shows may also be started via the unit's RS232 port. This is appropriate when connecting the VECTOR as part of an AV control system, for example, when driven from a touch screen.

For more powerful control, C-THROUGH or PRESENTER should be used.

C-THROUGH is suitable for advanced wall configurations and "show" authoring, with wall effects synchronized to changes in source material via timecode. Shows and effect routines are created by writing cues. These shows and effects may be recalled using function keys, or remotely from another controller via Ethernet or RS232. C-THROUGH works with ESLINX ES1553 Serial Control Module for controlling source equipment.

PRESENTER scene design screenIn most other applications, PRESENTER provides a more straightforward interface, based on designing scenes (i.e. window layouts), then selecting between these.

For those only familiar with C-THROUGH, PRESENTER also allows windows to be placed and moved by an operator immediately without writing cues.

Other powerful PRESENTER (also applies to COMMANDER™) features include:

  • full auto-detection of VECTOR inputs
  • virtual source management into VECTOR using customizable switcher control
  • web-page front-ends for custom, e.g. touch panel, user interfaces (used at LAX Airport)
  • control from other controllers via Ethernet or RS232 when VECTOR is part of larger system
  • a selection of effects to spice up scene transitions
  • a simple scene recall page using buttons that can be named by the user
  • control of external equipment on scene transitions
  • common interface with VISIONETWORK products
