The Path of Liberty: That Which Unites Us is an outdoor installation that invites visitors on an emotional journey through 250 years of American history. Spanning 6.7 acres on Manhattan’s East Side, 41 towering 20-foot screens showcase larger-than-life portraits, breathtaking landscapes and deeply personal interviews highlighting the achievements and ongoing experiment of American Democracy.
Each interview tells a personal story of someone’s American journey and what it means to them. Through these stories, visitors are invited to ask the question of “What does it mean to be an American?” Using audiovisual (AV) technology, visitors are immersed in every story—invited to reflect on how their own experiences resonate with others and to recognize the shared values and humanity that connect us all.
Electrosonic worked as the project’s AV lead consultant alongside C&G Partners, the Exhibition and Experience Designer and other partners to provide specialty projection, audio, signal distribution and interactive technology solutions that brought stunning portraits and immersive landscapes to life.
The Soloviev Foundation is dedicated to championing the work of nonprofits that strive to make the world better, more sustainable and just. They set out to create an immersive experience that captures the spirit of the American journey. Their vision was to celebrate the collaboration of passionate individuals united by a common pursuit of progress. By highlighting the nation's founding values and its ongoing efforts toward justice, equality and unity. The experience uses powerful AV technology to leave a lasting impact on every visitor.
To achieve this, the Soloviev Foundation needed a partner that had expertise in using AV technology to tell powerful, human-centered stories. Electrosonic’s ability to seamlessly integrate large-scale projection, dynamic sound and interactive elements allowed the Foundation to create a memorable experience and helped achieve their goal of bridging the past and present.
One of the biggest challenges in bringing Path Liberty: That Which Unites Us to life was its outdoor setting, which demanded technology durable enough to withstand seasonal weather conditions. Overcoming this required agile planning, allowing for flexibility as the site evolved.
Through strong teamwork and close collaboration, Electrosonic helped ensure the installation could adapt while still delivering a powerful and immersive experience.
Electrosonic has an impressive background in narrative historic storytelling using AV technology with award-winning installations like; USGA Hall of Fame, The Engine Shed, Historic Environment Scotland and National World War I Museum and Memorial. These projects demand agile planning and flexibility at every stage of the creation process, ensuring the final result delivers a fresh perspective while keeping the audience fully immersed and engaged.
At the Design Stage, Electrosonic was brought into the project by C&G Partners and collaborated with RLMG, Donna Lawrence, Flat Point Productions and Atlantis Partners. During this phase, Electrosonic provided schematic design, design development and construction documentation services.
Electrosonic then handled every aspect of the AV system’s integration and delivery—from design validation and engineering to software development, fabrication, installation and on-site testing. The team also provided training to ensure long-term adoption and ease of use. Through this process, Electrosonic brought key technologies to life, including projection, interactive displays, immersive audio and robust signal distribution.
Throughout the project, the team remained adaptable and solution-focused, working together to ensure seamless media playback and the successful completion of a complex outdoor installation. The result is a visually striking experience that delivers on both the creative vision and technical goals.
At Path of Liberty: That Which Unites US, AV technology plays a central role in reimagining how history is felt and understood. Instead of reading plaques or watching passive presentations, visitors are surrounded by large-scale, cinematic storytelling that immerses them in the American journey.
By placing the visitor within the experience and individual stories weaving into a greater shared narrative, technology opens space for empathy. The installation invites reflection and helps each person connect with stories that might otherwise feel distant or unfamiliar.
Experiential technology at Path of Liberty helps transform the space into a powerful environment for learning, connection and reflection. By spotlighting the shared themes that run through America’s diverse histories, the installation invites visitors to see themselves in the stories of others. Through immersive storytelling and a unified visual language, it builds bridges across time, culture and experience.

As guests enter the Path of Liberty, there are large screens displaying graphics such as the Declaration of Independence, that introduces visitors to the journey ahead, which is a tribute to 250 years of American history told through the voices and stories of those who lived it. Overhead audio using over 40 speakers draws people in with a soundscape of spoken word, ambient music and archival recordings.
The main experience unfolds along a wide pathway framed by 41 monumental projection screens, each standing 20 feet tall. Along the pathway, these screens come alive with synchronized visuals of faces, voices, historical footage and powerful reenactments that are all produced by a 13-projector system.
Adding a personal touch to the experience, visitors use interactive technology, stepping inside a green screen tent to have their photo taken. Instantly, their image becomes part of a dynamic U.S. map, projected onto one of the monumental screens for all to see. The content flows from screen to screen, immersing visitors in the personal and collective moments that have shaped the nation: revolution, civil war, migration, resistance, innovation and hope.
