Reimagining money through interactive storytelling.

The Museum of Money or MoMoney for short, is an interactive space that incorporates playful, hands-on exhibits and data-driven storytelling with the history of money. A group of money enthusiasts created this space because they were frustrated by the way conversations about money often lose their energy and appeal, so they set out to reimagine how these stories are told.

The team at MoMoney crafted an immersive experience that transforms complex financial concepts into engaging, interactive exhibits through the use of audiovisual technology. This space marks a clear departure from traditional, static presentations. Each installation explores a distinct dimension of money, brought to life through AV technologies that encourage intuitive, hands-on learning and deeper understanding.

Working in partnership with Fivestone Studios, Luci Creative and Ravenswood Studio, Electrosonic provided detailed AV design and system to create an immersive environment that includes interactive technology, creating a conversation about money with the audience.

Designing a more engaging financial narrative.

The team at MoMoney challenged themselves to do something different. They wanted to bring clarity, creativity and a sense of excitement back into the conversation. Their goal is to make financial storytelling dynamic, delivering content with enough spark to make even the most traditional subjects feel fresh and enjoyable.

AV technology plays a big role in transforming this space. Ravenswood brought Electrosonic onto the project due to our vast experience in incorporating AV technology into immersive museums, seen in projects such as National WWI Museum and Memorial, Surf Ballroom: Fade Away, The USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame and New Jersey Hall of Fame.

Turning complex systems into simple AV experiences.

This space includes a multitude of interactive technological additions that were required to ensure smooth daily use. At MoMoney, we worked with DetaiLED, Q-SYS and Christie as technology partners to create this space with the museum’s goal in mind. Through collaboration and communication, we were able to shape the space into a dynamic journey.

Early in the planning stages, Electrosonic provided schematic design and design development of the AV systems, helping establish a clear technical vision early in the process. This also aligns the creative intent while addressing practical considerations.

At the build and system integration stage, Electrosonic helped provide fabrication, installation, training and adoption. This ensured a seamless transition from concept to reality.

Where financial history meets AV-driven interaction.

Money is a prevalent form of communication in modern society. Knowing the use for it can serve as foundational knowledge for the audiences but learning the history of money reveals how value and exchange has evolved over time. Learning how it started can give insight into the present value and where the future of money is headed. The visitors can learn how money shaped economies, as well as connect and interact with one another today.

Through integrating audiovisual technology into the museum, it offers a new way to learn that will engage audiences. It better serves the Museum’s goal of wanting to educate their visitors while keeping it amusing and interactive.

Electrosonic has an award-winning impact on spaces like museums, transforming them into environments that resonate with modern audiences. Through the integration of audiovisual technology, exhibits are brought to life, creating moments that go beyond informing but also capture attention, invite participation and leave visitors with a lasting impression.

THE ORIGINS OF MONEY

Exploring the beginning through interactive AV technology.

Visitors begin their journey by exploring the origins of money, starting with the fundamental question, “What is money?” From there, visitors move through early systems of bartering using an interactive kiosk with a touchscreen and monitor that walks you through the process of old fashioned trading.

The environment then shifts into another immersive moment, inviting visitors into a dynamic, AV-driven “selfie goldmine” experience. Using two projectors, the space displays a glimmering mine of gold coins. Before you hit the next zone, guests can engage with a virtual bank teller, ‘Dex Diamondhands’, who offers a personalized and entertaining take on their financial future.

THE EVOLUTION OF MONEY

From understanding wealth to shaping currency.

As visitors move through the museum, they’re invited to step into the future of money through a series of interactive moments that build on one another. The journey begins with “Interest Invaders,” where guests actively engage with the concept of compound interest. This allows visitors to calculate the compound interest of your money, turning your pennies into future wealth.

The MoMoney experience then shifts from understanding money to creating it. At Currency Designer, there are interactive kiosks where guests can use touchscreens and cameras to design their own currency. Visitors later encounter a variety of real-world currencies projected onto a wall. It will give context to their designs and tie their creations back to the broader world of money.
