Electrosonic wins 2022 AV Award for Venue Project of the Year

When it comes to award-winning technology-rich experiences, Electrosonic has been making its mark. From nominations to finalists to wins, the company has made a point of getting its projects known for the experiences they create. Electrosonic never works alone on these installations. Rather, it requires a network of partners that specialize in various segments, and the latest win for the AV Awards Venue Project of the Year for Summit One Vanderbilt is one more example.

A Long History with the AV Awards

The AV Awards highlight the biggest and best AV deployments globally. Projects must demonstrate innovation and creativity while creating an experience that guests will never forget.

 

2022 Highlights

This year, some incredible spaces and places landed on the AV Awards shortlist, including:

  • Illuminarium Atlanta was recognized in three categories—Venue Project of the Year, Events and Entertainment Project of the Year and Hospitality Project of the Year. It’s a sensory sensation with 360-degree sight, sound and scale that transports visitors into new worlds. 
  • The Globe at AT&T Discovery District was a Corporate Project of the Year shortlist. It’s a 30-foot interactive rotating sculpture with dynamic audio and lighting. 
  • The Skydeck Experience at Willis Tower was again a Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year finalist. 
  • The Social Lab at the Museum of Tolerance earned honors in the Themed Entertainment and Attractions category. AV technology delivers an immersive exhibit that leverages ultra-high-resolution touchscreens, soundscapes and dynamic projection. 
  • Summit One Vanderbilt was up for Themed Entertainment and Attractions and Venue Project of the Year, winning the latter. The attraction includes 26 unique spaces over four levels in New York City. It combines audio, lighting, video and interactivity. Its most exciting exhibit is Unity, which uses images taken by 3D facial scanners and casts them on a 50-foot-long floor-to-ceiling video wall, giving guests the sense of being among the clouds. 

2021 Highlights

2021 was another banner year for Electrosonic and its partners, which launched new and impressive experiential designs. The organization made the shortlist for Integrator of the Year and these project categories:

  • Corporate Project of the Year Hyosung America’s Customer Experience Center and HQ. The experience center is all about delighting customers, and it provides a unique narrative for visitors.
  • EXPO 2020 Dubai was a colossal project for Electrosonic and featured three pavilions that would welcome millions of visitors. The concept was on the shortlist for Events and Entertainment Project of the Year and Venue Project of the Year. 
  • Retail Project of the Year finalist was a retail and entertainment space covering 3.9 million square feet, involved four activation points to wow guests.
  • The Krispy Kreme Flagship Store in Times Square was also a Retail Project of the Year contender. The Doughnut Theater used specialty audio and projection mapping to invite guests to see how doughnuts are made in a multi-sensory environment. 
  • The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame 360-Degree Cinema introduced a new multimedia experience to delight and engage fans. It was a shortlist nominee for Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year.
  • The Skydeck Experience at Willis Tower was also a finalist for Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year. It delivers an authentic Chicago experience with a variety of AV installations, culminating with “The Ledge” on the 103rd floor, a glass balcony with interactive displays and motion graphic animation.  

Electrosonic won Venue Project of the Year for EXPO 2020’s Mobility Pavilion and Retail Project of the Year.  

2020 Highlights 

In 2020, Electrosonic made the shortlist for three projects:

  • NHL Seattle Preview Center was a contender for the Leisure and Hospitality Project of the Year. It tells the story of bringing a team to the city and includes many interactive elements for fans.
  • The International Spy Museum, the U.S.’s only espionage museum, uses an array of AV components to create a personalized journey with guests interacting with displays and searching for spies, and was a finalist for Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year. 
  • Snorri Touren Dark Ride at Europa Park was also in the running for Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year. The ride fuses architecture and storytelling, fueled by integrated AV technology.

2019 Highlights 

Electrosonic has a long history with the AV Awards. In 2019, the organization was shortlisted for:

  • International Integrator of the Year, which recognizes excellence in integrating all the many technology pieces in a project. 
  • Corporate Project of the Year for the Repsol Sinopec Resources UK – Integrated Operations Center in Aberdeen, Scotland. The solution for the oil and gas company became a space for constant audio and video communication with key offshore personnel. 
  • Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year for Warner Bros. Abu Dhabi, a park filled with immersive rides and media-rich experiences. 

When the winners were announced, Warner Bros. World™ Abu Dhabi earned the title for Themed Entertainment and Attractions Project of the Year. Electrosonic was honored to receive the award. The project demonstrated its commitment to understanding the differences in a project’s regional needs, the goal for the experience and applying the right technology to make it happen. 

Over the past four years, Electrosonic has earned 29 shortlist recognitions and four wins. On this track record of honors and the most recent win, Brandon Harp who accepted the award at the event on Electrosonic’s behalf noted, “The AV Awards are some of the most prestigious in the industry with so many inspiring and innovative projects recognized. It’s good company to be in, and we’re proud to be among these. This award is a testament to our talented team and our partners.”
