Spark Interactive Honored with Commercial Integrator Integration Award

Electrosonic, the award-winning audiovisual and technology services company was recognized with a Commercial Integrator award in the K-12 category for its work on Spark Interactive, a mobile holocaust museum. The experience is a combination of mobility, technology and student-centered education that creates new opportunities to connect young people with the people and experiences behind one of history’s most important lessons.

Spark Interactive transforms Holocaust education into a living mobile experience

Spark Interactive exists to help students and communities who have restricted access from traditional museums, giving them the opportunity to engage with Holocaust history. Imagined by the Legacy of Light Goldberg Institute for Holocaust Education, the 450-square-foot mobile museum brings Holocaust education directly to high schools and communities, allowing students to experience the stories, artifacts and testimonies they might not otherwise have the opportunity to encounter.

Instead of asking students to travel to a museum, Spark Interactive brings the museum to them in an innovative combination of accessibility, digital storytelling and hands-on exploration. The experience reimagines the storytelling and immersive technology of a permanent museum for a flexible, mobile environment that can reach students wherever they are.

From the outside, Spark Interactive looks like a semi-truck. When it arrives at a school or community, it transforms into a fully functional museum. The wheels retract to the back of the vehicle, creating a stationary exhibit where students can enter an immersive educational environment.

Spark Interactive’s programs are grounded in historical accuracy and media literacy, helping students understand the realities of the Holocaust while building skills to recognize misinformation and evaluate the information they encounter today. The mobile experience consists of survivor testimonies, digital artifacts, and guided education to create an environment where students can explore history in an active and personal way.

Students begin with an overarching theme and guiding question, then explore the stories and survivor experiences that help them consider those ideas from different perspectives. Technology gives them the flexibility to engage with the content at their own pace. Tablets and QR codes provide access to additional stories, images and interactive activities throughout the experience, allowing students to choose where they want to explore more deeply.

At the same time, large LED displays create a shared visual environment, while carefully balanced audio keeps survivor testimonies clear within the compact space. Educators can review student responses and use them to shape discussion, connecting individual exploration with a broader conversation and shared learning experience.

Together, these elements create an experience that puts students at the center of the learning process. They can listen to personal accounts, explore historical content and reflect on what they discover throughout the experience. Spark Interactive gives students the opportunity to engage with Holocaust history in a way that is active, personal and meaningful.

“Thoughtful audiovisual integration allows us to create an environment where students can connect with these stories on a deeper level. The technology is not there to distract from the history, but to give students space to listen, explore and reflect in ways that make these stories feel immediate and relevant.” - Erica Whinston, Director of Operations, Legacy of Light Goldberg Institute of Holocaust Education

Creating new pathways to historical learning.

What makes the project stand out is how closely the technology is tied to the educational experience. Students aren't simply watching content on a screen. They explore stories, respond to questions, interact with the media and use what they discover to participate in discussion. The AV system supports each part of that process while keeping the historical stories at the center.

The project also presented a unique integration challenge. Electrosonic, Unified Field and Yazdani Studios had to create a complete museum experience inside a space designed to travel between locations. Equipment had to fit within a compact footprint, systems had to work together seamlessly and the experience had to remain engaging every time the trailer opened its doors.

The result demonstrates what thoughtful AV integration can achieve when technology is designed around a clear purpose. Spark Interactive uses audiovisual technology to create a museum experience that can reach students where they are. It is this combination of technical execution, creative problem-solving and meaningful audience impact that helped make Spark Interactive a Commercial Integrator Award-winning project.

“Spark Interactive challenged us to rethink what AV integration could look like in a mobile environment. It was incredibly rewarding to see the creativity, collaboration and problem-solving behind the project recognized with a Commercial Integrator Integration Award.” - Sean McChesney, Senior Vice President of Sales, Electrosonic
